Skinking History

I'm a Park City Skinker

Enjoy a drink with good friends after a day of skiing? Maybe you are a Skinker!

After more than 60 years of shredding the slopes and enjoying Apres’ ski with good friends, Mike Engel coined the phrase Skinking to capture the joy and celebration of his favorite sport. And his friends loved the idea!

As the community of friends grew, Mike knew this passion needed to be shared, and Go Skinking was born!

So, why do we invite others to become skinkers? Because we know that every shredding rider just wants to have a good time on the slopes, and skinking can enhance that experience. Everyone is doing it! Might as well name it! Skinking is for Skinkers – who skink responsibly!

Fun Times Equation

Our Skinking Mascot

The mascot is Mike’s berniedoodle Huber, who is part Bernese Mountain dog and part poodle. Here’s why he represents the spirit of Skinking.

Mike’s father Paul Huber Engel named him after the cherished family dog. Paul taught Mike how to ski from a young age and they shared a passion for skiing, fishing and the joy of a good drink at the end of a fun day of sports. After Paul passed away, Mike adopted Huber. Bernese Mountain dogs are from Switzerland where Paul’s grandmother came from with the family name Huber. Perfect! Mike decided to carry on the family naming tradition. He named the dog Huber after his father and Swiss family.

Since his dad taught him how to ski, and the dog is named after him, Mike thought it would only be fitting to make Huber the face of Go Skinking.

Skink on the Slopes

If you love dogs, skiing, enjoying drinks with friends talking about the day, you’re officially a skinker — and we couldn’t be more proud! Grab a drink, skink responsibly, and we’ll see you out on the slopes. Don’t Skunk!!
